Bumps and Shakes on Northover

April 27th, 2009 by Pete, Dan & Cathy

Many residents on Northover have contacted me in the past few days to complain about the vibrations to their homes and lives, caused by the speed bumps. I can absolutely appreciate the disruption these bumps cause, especially when the large trucks drive over them.

Speed bumps can play an important role in decreasing car speed and increasing pedestrian safety, but the bumps on Northover don’t seem to slow down the traffic at all.

I have contacted Lewisham Council to tell them about your concerns. They have agreed to look into a range of solutions to this problem. Once they have done this, I will arrange a community meeting between the Council and residents on Northover. This will be a chance to share your views and discuss solutions.

Whitefoot Lane

Residents of Whitefoot Lane will finally see their road resurfaced and repaired by 2010 - eight years after Labour-run Lewisham Council began the job.

Following questions tabled by Liberal Democrat councillors, Lewisham Council revealed that the final section of Whitefoot Lane is due to be resurfaced in 2009/10, whilst the first batch of repairs began in March 2002.

Ever since I was elected I have been badgering the Council to get the road surface on Whitefoot Lane improved. I appreciate that not all of the work could have been programmed into one year but eight years is taking the biscuit!

Cllr Pete Pattisson added, “This just shows how out-of-touch and inefficient Labour-run Lewisham is. Have a look at this video I made to see for yourself!”
